What is a Scentsy Bar

WHAT IS A SCENTSY BAR:

Q. What is a Scentsy Bar?

A Scentsy Bar or melt, cube, tart as it is sometimes referred to is a block of scented wax. It comes a clamshell package with eight break-apart sections. The Scentsy Wax Bar is used with a wax warmer to melt the wax which emits fragrance into the air.

Q. Where are Scentsy Bars made?

Scentsy Bars are made in Meridian, Idaho at Scentsy headquarters.

Q. What kind of fragrance oils are used in Scentsy Bars?

Scentsy uses both synthetic and naturally-derived fragrances oils to achieve the highest quality and longest-lasting bar. Synthetic oils are used for several reasons, including:

*When using natural oils results in unrestrained use of limited or endangered natural resources.

*When it isn’t possible to derive the natural oils from nature. For example, synthetic oil is necessary to reproduce lily of the valley because fragrance cannot be extracted from this flower through typical extraction methods.

*When it is cost prohibitive to acquire natural oils and would preclude Scentsy from offering particular fragrances without increasing the price for customers.

Q. What kind of wax is used to make the Bars?

Scentsy uses a custom, high-quality paraffin wax blend designed to give long-lasting fragrance and selected for its scent loading ability, melting point and firmness.

Q. Why doesn’t Scentsy use a soy- or vegetable-based wax?

Soy- or vegetable-based waxes can produce a quality wicked candle, but not a quality wickless candle.

Q. Are Scentsy Bars safe?

Scentsy Bars are safer than wicked candles because no flame is required for the wax to melt and release fragrance. Since the wax is warmed and not burned as with traditional candles, no harmful chemicals or pollutants are released into the air.

Q. Do Scentsy Bars contain harmful phthalates?

Scentsy Bars do not contain or release harmful phthalates. A small percentage of Scentsy Bar fragrances contain extremely low levels of non-harmful diethyl phthalate (DEP), commonly used in fragrances to help blend ingredients and to make fragrances last longer. DEP is thoroughly tested and is consistently regarded as safe for use in fragrance by sever

al government bodies including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the European Union Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (SCCP). Scentsy follows all safety standards regulating the use of DEP set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA).

Q. Do Scentsy Bars contain any nut or mineral oils? Do they contain Bisphenol A (BPA), gluten, lead, egg or formaldehyde?

Scentsy Bars and fragrance oils do not contain any kind of nut or mineral oils. They are BPA-, gluten-, lead-, eggand formaldehyde-free.

Q. How should I store my Scentsy Bars?

Store your Scentsy Wax Bars in a cool, dry area of your home, away from direct sunlight. If you store bars next to a stove or in direct sunlight, the top fragrance notes may be released from the heat. Learn more here

Q. Why can’t I smell my favorite Scentsy Bar anymore?

Occasionally, you can become immune to a scent or fragrance note by simply warming it too frequently. For example, if you warm cinnamon fragrances all year, your nose may actually begin to filter out the smell of cinnamon. By switching out your Scentsy fragrances regularly, you can prevent this from happening.

Q. I placed a new cube in my Scentsy Warmer, but I can’t smell it. Why not?

Each fragrance has a different level of scent throw depending on the fragrance oil composition. Factors such as weather, humidity, ventilation systems and elevation may alter scent throw:

*Weather and humidity: At higher temperatures, water molecules are more likely to go into the vapor phase, so there will be more water vapor in the air. When fragrance and water molecules bind together, the water weighs fragrance down, creating less diffusion of the fragrance into the air. When there is less moisture into the air, fragrance has better diffusion and can be perceived as stronger.

*Environment: Large rooms, ceiling fans and flooring may affect how scent dissipates, as do open windows and ventilation systems.

*Certain fragrance notes can be perceived as stronger than others based on their molecular structure and your sense of smell. For example, citrus notes are top notes, typically recognizable and can be considered stronger because your nose smells these notes first. In contrast, musk notes are base notes, aren’t typically recognizable and are used to create harmony within a fragrance. You could expect citrus dominate fragrances to be perceived as stronger than musky ones.

How to Store Scentsy Wax Bars

How to Store Scentsy Wax Bars:

Scentsy Wax Bars are made from soft paraffin wax and fragrance oils which are subject to destruction due to heat, position and age. By properly storing Scentsy Bars you can lengthen the life of the fragrance and the bar itself.

How to Store Scentsy Wax Bars

Here are some tips on storing Scentsy Bars:

-Store Scentsy Bars in a cool, dark place. I store my Scentsy Bars in a hall closet.

-Keep Scentsy Bars flat instead of stacking upright or hanging. When the bars are upright the fragrance oils might run down the side of the bar. This not only depletes the fragrance but it also causes a mess.

-Use a system such as first in, first out when it’s time to use Scentsy Bars. This ensures that the oldest bars are used first before they have a chance to get old and lose fragrance.

-Avoid keeping Scentsy Bars near heat sources such as vehicles, the kitchen stove and direct or indirect sunlight.

-Keep your Scentsy Bars, Room Sprays and other products in our NEW Storage box. The box holds up to 45 Scentsy Bars or other products.

What Size Bulb Does a Scentsy Warmer Use

What Size Bulb Does a Scentsy Warmer Use:

This is such a common question so I figured I would write a post to help you determine what size bulb your Scentsy Warmer uses. Scentsy Warmers come in three different types- Mini, Standard and Element and they either use a 15 watt bulb, 20 watt bulb, 25 watt bulb, 40 watt bulb or no bulb at all.

Warmer Types & Bulb Sizes:

Scentsy Mini (Nightlight) Warmer Bulb/Watt:

Scentsy Warmer Light Bulb Chart

Mini Scentsy Warmers (Nightlights) all use the 15 watt light bulb. Please Note: The 15 watt bulb resembles regular nightlight bulbs but the wattage is different. Most nightlight warmers use anywhere from 4-10 watts but these aren’t sufficient for warming Scentsy Wax. So if you bought a bulb in the store and it’s not melting your wax this is probably the reason. Make sure you get a 15 watt bulb. You can buy them here.

Standard Scentsy Warmers Bulb/Watt:

What Scentsy Bulb Size What Scentsy Bulb Size What Scentsy Bulb Size

This is where it gets tricky. Scentsy Warmers come in three different types- we used to refer to them as Full Size, Mid-Size and Plug depending on their bulb size so it was a little easier to decipher but those names no longer apply. We now refer to our warmers as Mini, Standard or Element. Standard Warmers may use either a 20, 25 or 40 watt bulb.

The easiest way to tell what size bulb your Scentsy Warmer uses is to flip it over and read the label or check the cord tag. There is either a silver label on the bottom and it indicates either a 20W, 25W or 40W (see photo bottom left) OR next to the plug there is a white label that indicates the wattage (see photo bottom right). This tells you what size bulb you need. If for some reason your warmer’s label is missing than Contact Me or text me 520-975-8993 and I should be able to find out for you.

what-size-scentsy-bulb

scentsy light bulb label

PLEASE NOTE: All Scentsy Warmers will use one of the bulbs from our store. Not all brands of warmers use our specific bulb type or size. Please ensure that you are buying a bulb for an Authentic Scentsy Warmer before purchasing. To check: look on the bottom of the warmer for a tag or a tag on the cord or the word Scentsy engraved in the warmer itself. If you are unsure if your warmer is an Authentic Scentsy Warmer please contact me here.

Element Scentsy Warmers Bulb/Watt:

Scentsy Element Warmers DO NOT use a light bulb to warm the wax. Instead, the dish sits atop a heating element. You don’t need to buy replacement bulbs for element warmers. If your Scentsy Element Warmer is no longer working and the heating element is not heating up than you’ll need to contact your consultant or me for a replacement.

How To Change Scentsy Wax

How to Change Scentsy Wax:

One of the most common questions that I receive is, “How do I change Scentsy wax from my warmer?” So I thought I would write an instructional post and I also made a few videos for you. I hope this information is helpful and if it is please feel free to share with your friends. Thank You!

Change Melted/Liquid Scentsy Wax:

  1. You’ll need a wad of toilet tissue or 3-4 cotton balls and a paper towel.
  2. You can leave your warmer on or turn it off.
  3. Take the wad of toilet tissue or cotton balls and place in the warm wax.
  4. Let the tissue/cotton soak up the wax. This can take about 15-20 seconds and may need to be repeated with fresh tissue if you have more than one cube of wax warming.
  5. Toss the tissue/cotton into the trash.
  6. Wipe the dish with a fresh wad of tissue or a paper towel.
  7. Your Scentsy Warmer is now ready for a new scent.

Change Solid Scentsy Wax:

  1. You’ll need a rubber spatula, popsicle stick or the package of a Scentsy Bar and a paper towel.
  2. Turn your Scentsy Warmer off for about 15-20 minutes. The wax will harden but remain pliable.
  3. Run the edge of the spatula, stick or Scentsy Bar around the inside edge of the warmer dish to separate the wax from the dish dk-apotek.com.
  4. The oils in the wax will make it easy for the wax to pop right out.
  5. If the wax is still scented than you can save it for later. If not, you can toss it in the trash.
  6. Wipe the dish clean with the paper towel.
  7. Your Scentsy Warmer is now ready for a new scent.

How to Clean Up Spilled Scentsy Wax

HOW TO CLEAN SPILLED SCENTSY WAX:

Spilled Scentsy Wax?

There’s no use crying over spilled Scentsy wax! 😉 We all know that sometimes accidents happen. Your Scentsy Warmer might get knocked over or you might spill wax during a wax change. Whatever, the reason might be, I am here to help! Below is a list of surfaces and how to remove Scentsy wax from them. If you have questions or need more help please feel free to contact me.

1) ANY SMOOTH, NONPOROUS SURFACE such as kitchen or bathroom counter tops, coffee/end tables, tile, linoleum, etc. This type of wax removal is the simplest of all. The only tools you will need are a Scentsy Bar package (or single blade razor-pictured) and a wet cloth. Spilled Scentsy WaxThe single blade razors can be found at any home improvement store and are also sold as part of cleaning kits for smooth top stoves. To remove wax- once the wax is dry, gently slide the Scentsy Bar package under the wax. The dried wax will come right off. Simply throw it away or toss back into the Scentsy Warmer and wipe the surface with the wet cloth. See the Spilled Scentsy Wax Video on YouTube

2) Carpet. You will need a warm iron, paper towel or paper bag and a wet cloth. Place the dry paper towel or paper bag over the wax. Gently iron over the paper towel/bag. The heat from the iron will warm the wax and it will absorb onto the paper towel or bag. Wipe the area with a wet cloth to remove any remaining residue. You might need to repeat this process several times to remove all of the wax. Also, with some darker waxes you might try using a carpet cleaning spray to remove any remaining color pigment.

3) Walls. For walls you can try using the above methods to remove the majority of the wax. To remove any remaining residue simply scrub the area with a brush. Be careful not to scrub too hard so you don’t remove any paint. Handheld steam cleaners also work really well to remove wax residue from walls, just ask my son! 😉

Thanks for reading and I hope these tips will help!
